Djúpalonssandur is a wonderful black sand beach, where remnants of a shipwreck of a British ship Epine can be found. From the beach you have a good view of the Snæfellsjökull glacier (that's where Jules Verne's prof. Otto Lidenbrock strays his "Journey to the Center of the Earth").
"The story behind this shot adds to the mystique of the photograph. The iron pieces remain scattered on the beach, from the British trawler, which was wrecked on the night of March 13th, 1948. 14-men lost their lives that night. Rest in peace." - CB
